We’re excited to announce the next gathering of the Medical Innovation Group

on Thursday, November 14th at Nostimo Restaurant, 29 Edmondstone Street, South Brisbane. This is more than just a meeting—it’s an opportunity to engage with a community of passionate individuals dedicated to driving progress in medical technology and healthcare solutions.


The evening will start with drinks from 6:30 PM, providing a relaxed atmosphere to reconnect and catch up. At 7:00 PM, we’ll move into a session where each member will give a brief update on their latest projects and breakthroughs. Afterward, we’ll open the floor for group discussions, so bring any challenges, ideas, or insights you would like to explore with the collective expertise of the group.

Precision AI : Stories from the Inside of a Medical Startup – An Interactive Discussion

In 2019, Sandra, Ben and 2 other co-founders created Precision AI (PAI), an Orthopaedic Software and Medical device company. The flagship product was an Orthopaedic Planning Platform and PSI guides for shoulder replacements, which assisted the surgeon to execute the surgery as planned. PAI released this product to the Australian market in early 2021. While refining its original offering, PAI continued to innovate new ideas and developed prototypes of several other cutting-edge products. In 2023, Precision AI was acquired by a large, multinational company.

In this session, Sandra will be covering:

  • Innovation business structure and biggest hurdles

  • Our most important lessons

  • Questions and discussion within the group

Dr Sandra Kenny, Co-Founder Precision AI

Dr Sandra Kenny is a Brisbane-based Anaesthetist currently working at Ipswich Public Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. She completed the majority of her speciality training at John Hunter Hospital, a tertiary hospital in Newcastle NSW.

Sandra has had a long standing interest in Medical Education and she has held a various positions at universities and hospitals over her career.

Of these 2 highlights were:

  • her appointment as Post Graduate Education Fellow in a joint position offered between the John Hunter Hospital and the University of Newcastle and the University of New England Medical Program;

  • a 7 year tenure as a Simulation Instructor at the Hunter New England Simulation Centre.

Sandra is currently the Queensland Lead and Facilitator of the ANZCA (Australia and New Zealand College of Anaethetists) Clinician Education program.

In addition to her clinical work as an Anaesthetist, Sandra has developed a passion for business and innovation. Sandra is Practice Director of Kenny Orthopaedics/Osseo Specialist Suites, a small medical practice which provides facilities for like-minded medical specialists and allied health professionals. She was also a co-founder of a successful medical device company, Precision AI which has subsequently been acquired.

Sandra is married to an Orthopaedic Surgeon and has 4 young children.
